Description	:	Early pioneers came to this area around 1800 and by 1810 the first primitive church building was started. The cemetery is located to the left of what became known as the Gilgal Presbyterian Church. A traditional story tells of the cemetery’s beginning: the body of a man found dead, apparently the victim of Indians, was buried where it was found. Gradually other burials were made beside it. The original burial area included two-and-three-fourths [2¾] acres. An additional six [6] acres was bought from Mr. James Ayres in 1879 for $63.02½.
