Description	:	Driving Directions: The "Old" Maysville Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded between 1800 and 1840 and was occupied on the old site, on White road, until circa 1855/60 when a New Church was built about a half mile away. This "New" site was occupied from 1854 to 1975. In 1975, the "New" Church building was razed and the location moved, yet again. The church members maintained the old cemetery for a few decades, from 1860 onward. However, it started to fall into disrepair, shortly after the last interment was made... Read More	Driving Directions: The "Old" Maysville Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded between 1800 and 1840 and was occupied on the old site, on White road, until circa 1855/60 when a New Church was built about a half mile away. This "New" site was occupied from 1854 to 1975. In 1975, the "New" Church building was razed and the location moved, yet again. The church members maintained the old cemetery for a few decades, from 1860 onward. However, it started to fall into disrepair, shortly after the last interment was made sometime between 1915 and 1920...[Armstrong Opie was actually buried there in 1943, as the last recorded burial.] This "Old" part of the cemetery is in sad shape today and I am told there are still a couple of volunteers who keep the brush down and try to keep the remaining markers upright. However, the topography and location of this "Old Cemetery" make that a very difficult task indeed. There are a good number of unmarked graves in this "Old" part and most of the remaining markers are in dire need of restoration. The "New" part of the cemetery is in much better shape and is maintained by an elderly, local, resident, who lives next to this part. Both parts of the Cemetery are located in Maysville, Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. To get to either part, of this cemetery, follow these driving directions: From the Bridge, in Apollo, PA, drive, up the hill, for 7.28 miles on Pennsylvania State Route 56, toward Spring Church and Shelocta, PA. Drive, on Route 56, to the intersection of State Route 156, in Shady Plain, PA. At this intersection, turn right onto Route 156, toward Avonmore and drive 3.42 miles to the intersection of White Road and Route 156. For the Cemetery "Old Part:" At this intersection, turn left, onto White Road and drive 0.25 miles, across the bridge, to the dirt, or shale road, on the right. [If you go past the Old School House, you missed this turn by 100 yards.] Turn right, onto the shale road and drive 20 or 30 yards to a left turn, onto a "Goat Path," up the hill. The "Old" part of the Cemetery is about 300 or 400 yards up this steep hill. If this "road" [Goat Path] is anything but dry and solid, it is highly recommended to use your legs or 4 wheel drive. For the Cemetery "New Part:" Follow the same directions to the intersection of White Road, in Maysville...Continue past White Road for about 100 yards to the intersection of Allshouse Road and Route 156. At this intersection, turn right onto Allshouse Road and drive about 200 yards to a private Drive Way on the left...You will see the grave markers there.
