Description	:	In 1865 a few Poland Village men realized that the graveyard next to the Presbyterian Church would not be large enough for the many returning Civil War veterans and their families. To honor these returning war veterans 3.3 acres of land were purchased on the east bank of Yellow Creek for the purpose of laying out a second cemetery. The monument contains the names of those soldiers from Poland who died during the Civil War and were buried elsewhere. The garden-like setting is maintained by a Board of Trustees and a dedicated staff.
