Description | : | St Giles was founded by St David in 1124, fire damaged in 1322 and 1385 by the English and restored in 1390 by Scottish merchants. It was stripped of its Catholic decoration in 1599 by its’ new minister John Knox. The kirkyard to the south was closed to burials in 1561 and demolished to provide land to construct Parliament House in 1639. |
