Description	:	St. Peter Claver Catholic Church was named for a 17th century Jesuit priest who was born in Barcelona Spain and died of the plague in 1654. He took the name "Slave of the Slaves Forever" and is the Patron Saint of missionaries working with black congregations. The church and cemetery opened in 1918. A Baltimore order of black sisters, the Oblate Sisters of Providence opened a parochial school associated with the church in 1924, but that is now closed.
