Description	:	The summit Hill Cemetery is situated on the same property as the Summit Hill Church, and its history goes hand-in-hand with the church. Summit Hill Church has undergone several denominational changes, It was founded in the late 1800s as an Evangelical Association house of worship. Read More	The summit Hill Cemetery is situated on the same property as the Summit Hill Church, and its history goes hand-in-hand with the church. Summit Hill Church has undergone several denominational changes, It was founded in the late 1800s as an Evangelical Association house of worship. The land for the church (and the cemetery) 80 perches in total, was given by Conrad and Hannah Long on 6 September 1890. John Yeager, John Kenarr, and John Miller were the first trustees in charge of the church. The Rev. Berkeley is the only known pastor while it was an Evangelical Church. At some point in its history it became affiliated with the Brethern in Christ Denomination. They had the church for some years before it transformed into Pilgrim Holiness Church. On 12 August 1943, Calvin R. and Olive B. Yeager deeded a plot of ground for the use of the Summit Hill Pilgrim Holiness Church. Finally, in the mid-20th century, it became affiliated with the Wesleyan denominations. Rev. Ray Styers was the first Wesleyan pastor. All of these denominations used the cemetery at various points in their history. In the last fifteen years the church has undergone many expansions, including a major annex with modern restrooms, a fellowship hall, pastor's study, church office, nursery, junior church, and the parking lot. A pavilion and children's play area was added in 1999. The church is an active one. Twenty-four pastors are know to have spanned its history, from the Rev. Erkley to the Rev. Stephens who has been serving the congregation since 1985. He very kindly furnished our Society the information available to him concerning the history of the church.
