Description : The ¼-acre Thomas Family Burial Ground was established after 1711 by Welsh colonist Richard Thomas Jr. on a part of 5,000-acre patent from William Penn in the Chester Valley, near the Lenape village of Katamoonchink (present-day Exton). Richard and his father Richard ap Thomas were Quakers and had arrived in Philadelphia in 1683, but the elder Thomas died in Philadelphia before traveling to his land. The cemetery parcel was deeded to Richard Thomas' descendants in trust in 1894, after which it was enclosed by a rebuilt stone wall. It is still private property today.
