Barker, U.S.A., 27, youngest son of Dr. and Mrs. Williston W. Barker of Dorchester, Mass., and formerly of this city, died suddenly at Camp Van Dorn, Miss. Details were not given. Lieutenant Barker was a grandson of the late Dr. Christopher F. Barker of this city and Eleanor M. Barker of this city is his Aunt. Born in Boston, he was graduated from Roxbury Latin School in 1931 and from Harvard College in 1938. He enlisted as a private in 1941, was selected for Officer's training school the following year and received his commendation as a Second Lieutenant in 1943. Besides his parents, he leaves two brothers, James S. Sherman of Nashua, N.A. and Lt. Robinson Barker of the Naval Air Force Station in Florida and a sister Miss Cynthia Barker. Military honors were accorded to the late Lieutenant George L. Barker, U..A. at his funeral on Friday. Services were held at St. George's Church, with interment in the Island Cemetery. There were military officers, a firing squad and a bugler to sound "Taps" over the grave.
