Description	:	Son of George A. Shortt and Nellie Wright RUMNEY -- Aaron William Shortt, 87, died Nov. 7, 2009. He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Warren. He lived most of his life in Rumney. He and his wife, Geneva, ran Shortt's Garage in West Rumney for 58 years. They retired in 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of The American Legion in Warren. Shortt and Nellie Wright RUMNEY -- Aaron William Shortt, 87, died Nov. 7, 2009. He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Warren. He lived most of his life in Rumney. He and his wife, Geneva, ran Shortt's Garage in West Rumney for 58 years. They retired in 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of The American Legion in Warren. He was a 35-year member of Rumney Fire Dept, 17 of those years as chief. He served as the local state fire warden and deputy warden. He was selected to received the Community Citizen Award from Baker River Grange in 1985. He was active in Moosehillock Masonic Lodge No. 63 and Eastern Star in Warren. He belonged to Bektash Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. He belonged to the Provost Guard and was captain for 2½ years. He will be missed by his family and friends. He always had a smile, an encouraging word and was willing to help everyone. Family members include his wife of 63 years, Geneva Shortt of Rumney; two sisters, Myrtle Seace of Lisbon and Marjorie Spell of Sun City, Ariz.; a daughter, Pat, of Standish, Maine; a son, Bill, of West Rumney; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main St., No Woodstock. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Members of Moosehillock Masonic Lodge No. 63 will gather for a service at 6:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Warren Cemetery.
