Read More	Highland Recorder May 1, 1931 Monterey ans were shocked to hear at an early hour Thursday of the death of Mrs. Abbie Fleisher Lunsford, prominent and respected lady of the town. Mrs. Lunsford, a victim of pleurisy, had been very ill, but a decided change for the better had come a few days ago & her recovery seemed assured. This morning, Mr. Lunsford, having arranged a business trip to Staunton, went up to her room about 6:30 to speak to her before leaving. She said she felt much better and told him of an article or two to bring back for her this evening (Thursday). Soon after returning to the lower floor of the home, he was hastily summoned by Miss Peaco, the nurse in charge and Mrs. Lunsford passed away before he could reach her side. Deceased, a daughter of the late James A. and Irene Fleisher, was 58 years of age, and is survived by her husband, C. M. Lunsford to whom she was married in 1904, one son, Charles W. Lunsford, of Monterey & one daughter, Miss Margaret Lunsford, at home. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. J. W. Hevener, of Hightown, her only brother, Dr Adam Fleisher, dying in 1900, soon after taking his degree at the University of Virginia. The Fleisher family of which she was a member, was one of the largest and best known in this section of the State, hence she has a host of relatives throughout Virginia. Funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock in charge of her pastor, the Rev. A.E. Johnson, and interment will be in the Monterey cemetery.
