Description	:	Presbyterian of the South September 10, 1919 James Austin Fleisher was born in Monterey, now Highland County, Va., April 15, 1846, and died at his home near Meadow Dale, in the same county, June 23, 1919, after a very brief illness. He was the son of Adam H. and Rachel Slaven Fleisher, was twice married, first in 1868 to Miss Irene E. Hull, who died in 1892; second in 1893 to Miss Florence E. Wade, who survives him. He was the son of Adam H. and Rachel Slaven Fleisher, was twice married, first in 1868 to Miss Irene E. Hull, who died in 1892; second in 1893 to Miss Florence E. Wade, who survives him. To him and his first wife five children were born, three of whom came to maturity: Katie M., now Mrs. J. W. Hevener, of Hightown, Va.; Abigail W., now Mrs. C. M. Lunsford, of Monterey, Va. and J. Adam, who died in young manhood after practicing his chosen profession of medicine about a year. His second marriage was, blessed with but one child, which died in infancy. Mr. Fleisher first united with the Methodist Episcopal church, but joined the Pisgah Presbyterian church in 1895 and lived a consistent, earnest christian life to the end. He was deeply religious and grew much in the christian graces in the last few years of his life, enjoyed the worship and service of the Lord's house and was a most faithful attendant and supporter of the church and its work, always being in his place and doing his part. So it is needless to say that he is much missed in his church and home and community.
