I checked her death record at the Wapello County Court House, and just her middle initial was given, as in her obituary, which I have transcribed below. Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” February 14, 1955: Mrs. Ada Baum Dies; Able Church Worker Mrs. Ada C. Baum, 81, of 101 South Willard street, died today at the Ottumwa hospital. She had been a patient since Saturday. The daughter of William and Catherine Walmer Gift, she was born July 20, 1873, in Wapello county.... Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” February 14, 1955: Mrs. Ada Baum Dies; Able Church Worker Mrs. Ada C. Baum, 81, of 101 South Willard street, died today at the Ottumwa hospital. She had been a patient since Saturday. The daughter of William and Catherine Walmer Gift, she was born July 20, 1873, in Wapello county. She was an active member of the Willard Street Methodist church. She was past superintendent of the Sunday school, a past Sunday school teacher, and past president of the W.S.C.S. She was an honorary life member of the W.S.C.S. She was also a member of Enterprise Rebekah lodge No. 132. Her marriage to Charles C. Baum took place April 30, 1899. He died in November, 1930. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Surviving are four daughters, Mr. Ted Keifer of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ralph Adamson of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Jerry Wood and Mrs. H.E. Wilson, both of Ottumwa, six granddaughters, and one sister, Miss Elizabeth Gift of Ottumwa.
