Kennedy, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Hyde was born in Somerville, Ohio, September 8, 1871 and passed from this life July 4, 1945. she was married to Lawrence Kennedy December 18, 1895. He preceded her in death August 1, 1935. To this union were born two children, Vida Conley of Fort Worth, Texas, who passed away June 23 of this year, and a son Edward of Omaha, Nebraska. She united with the Methodist Church of Nodaway when young and remained a faithful member to the time of her death. She was a kind and loving mother and friendly and patient and uncomplaining during her long illness. To mourn her loss, she leaves besides her son, a foster son, Bernard, who is now in the service, a son-in-law, Harold Conley of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Carothers of Nodaway, Kitty Hyde of Hopkins, Missouri, two grand children, Janice and Joan Conley, Fort Worth, Texas, and a number of other relatives and hosts of friends. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. F. M. Thompson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Villisca. Pall bearers were C. N. Kennedy, W. B. Kennedy, Frank Kennedy, Fred Kennedy, Phillip Kennedy, and E. C. Kennedy, all brothers-in-law of the deceased. She was laid to rest in the Nodaway Cemetery. Singing was by Mrs. R. J. Dismukes and Miss Iola Orme, with Mrs. C. N. Kennedy at the piano. Adams County Free Press, July 12, 1945, page 12
