Description	:	Lawrence "Len" Kennedy, eldest son of Edward and Sarah Kennedy was born in Nodaway, Iowa, November 7, 1871 and passed away at his home in Cushing, Nebraska August 1, 1935, at the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 24 days. He spent the greater part of his lifetime in the Nodaway community, moving to Nebraska in 1909. His death is the first in the family except one brother and one sister, who died in infancy. He is the oldest of a family of 12 children, 9 of whom are left to mourn his loss and all of whom live in the Nodaway Community except one sister who lives in Colome, South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Addie Hyde December 18, 1895 at Nodaway, Iowa, and to this union was born two children, Mrs. Vida B. Conley of Grand Saline, Texas and Edward L. who lives at home. They with their mother are left to mourn his passing along with an adopted son, Bernard, six brothers, Charles, Frank, Edward, William, Fred, and Phillip and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Fravel of Colome, South Dakota, Mrs. Winnie McClelland and Miss Nellie Kennedy of Nodaway and two granddaughters, Janice and Joan Conley of Grand Saline, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Kennedy was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in August 1894 at a camp meeting which was held in the Railroad Park in Nodaway. From the time of his conversion he has always held innumerable responsibilities connected with the church acting on the official board and taking an active part in all work that was for the upbuilding of the community. He was a member of our local school board for many years and a real leader in all uplifting enterprises. His live demanded the highest respect of all who knew him and his work will continue to live in spite of his absence. Singers were Frances Penwell, Mrs. Virgil Anderson, Mrs. Floyd Neill, accompanist. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. Church at Nodaway, conducted by Rev. Wayne Emry and assisted by Rev. Ray Cornwell. Interment was made in Nodaway Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, August 8, 1935, page 6
