She was preceded in death by a stepson. Paul Turnis, four brothers and two sisters. Adele was born April 13, 1908, in Monticello, the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth Sumner Meier. She married Marvin "Cub” Bartlett in July of 1928. He died in 1936. She then married John Turnis in August, 1943. He died in 1961. Adele taught rural school in Jones Co. and later, with her husband John, owned and operated the Colfax Feed Mill in Colfax and retired after 12 years of service from the Linn County Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of the Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Adele was the rock of her family, which was the joy of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her fondly as "Grandma.” Memorial donations may be made to Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church or the Peace United Church in Monticello in Adele’s name.
