She had submitted to a goiter operation at the University hospital last year, and the effects of this operation caused her to be ill in mind. The birth of Mrs. Ireland occurred in Castle Grove township, July 24, 1904. He parents were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meier. As a young woman she attended the rural schools in the neighborhood of her home. Confirmed in 1920, The Rev. E. E. Gruenstein former pastor of the Reformed Church, officiated at the baptism of the subject of this sketch, whose maiden name was Susan Magdeline Meier. She was later confirmed, March 28, 1920, by rev. R. P. Kuentzel, pastor of the Reformed church. Her marriage to Harry Ireland occurred June 23, 1925, at the Reformed church in Monticello. No children were born to this union, but Mr. and Mrs. Ireland adopted a son, Gordon, in October, 1932. Husband and Son Survive: Mrs. Ireland is survived by her husband, son Gordon, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meier, and the following brothers and sisters, Edward of Delhi, Albert, Paul and Vernon of Monticello, Mrs. Marvin Bartlett and Olga, Pauline and Virginia of Monticello. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 1:15 at the family home on Main street, and at the Reformed Evangelical church at 1:30 o'clock. All of the services were in charge of the Rev. Armin H. Tendick, pastor of the church. The funeral was largely attended by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Mrs. Ireland's body was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
