Description	:	Adolph Henry Firley, son of Albert and Maria Schott Firley, was born June 19, 1904 in Recklinghausen, Germany and died May 21, 1989 at Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 84 years. He was the fourth child of six children in the family. He was baptized on July 3, 1904 into the Christian faith at the Evangelical Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the same church in Recklinghausen, Germany. Read More	Adolph Henry Firley, son of Albert and Maria Schott Firley, was born June 19, 1904 in Recklinghausen, Germany and died May 21, 1989 at Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 84 years. He was the fourth child of six children in the family. He was baptized on July 3, 1904 into the Christian faith at the Evangelical Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the same church in Recklinghausen, Germany. In 1923 he came to the United States and settled at Deshler. He was a farm laborer in the Deshler community. In 1929 he was proud to become an American citizen. On October 22, 1931, he was united in marriage to Johannah Potthast at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. This union was blessed with six children, Albert, Darlene, Velma, Norma Jean, Adolph and Marie. In 1936 Adolph and Johanna moved to a farm northeast of Chester and remained in the Chester community throughout his life. He and Johanna had the opportunity of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 31, 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents, a beloved daughter, Norma Jean on April 30, 1944, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by is wife Johanna; two sons, Albert H. Firley and wife Erna of Chester and Adolph Firley Jr. and wife Ruth of Lincoln; three daughters, Darlene Rischling and husband Richard of Lincoln, Velma Kotas and husband Don of Lincoln and Marie Vavra and husband Don of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one sister, Anna Zilch of Recklinghausen, Germany; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24, at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester at 2 p.m. conducted by Pastor David Loeschen. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic). Karen Kotas, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Poppe. Casket bearers were Brad Firley, Michael Firley, Craig Firley, Michael Steffensmeier, Kirk Nisley and Bill Wallace. Honorary casket bearers were Charles Blecha, Harold G. Crouse, Maurice Mitchell, Marlin Smith, Bill Tipton and Michael Tipton. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
