She was born July 30, 1914, at the farm home one mile east and one-half mile north of Winifred, Kansas. She passed away at the Frankfort Community Care home on February 4, 1997, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, 4 days. Harper and Edna J. (Warnica) Harper. She was born July 30, 1914, at the farm home one mile east and one-half mile north of Winifred, Kansas. She passed away at the Frankfort Community Care home on February 4, 1997, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, 4 days. In 1915 her father took a homestead near Caddoa, Colorado where later the John Martin Dam was built. Adrienne and her family first lived in a tent and then moved into a two-room house that her father built. In 1918 the family moved to a farm house north of Frankfort, and Adrienne attended nearby Pleasant Hill School. Later the family moved to a farm home west of Vermillion, and Adrienne attended Lamb School. While living at the home near Vermillion Adrienne and her family attended Sunday School and Church services at the First Presbyterian Church in Vermillion. During that time, at the age of 12, Adrienne made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Adrienne attended Frankfort High School and took a course in normal training, graduating in 1931. She taught elementary school for several years in Marshall and Jefferson counties. One summer while working in a cafeteria in Manhattan, Kansas, Adrienne was I involved in a serious accident that left her in a state of shock. She was given medical treatments and several shock treatments, but never recovered completely from the mental trauma. She lived with her father for some time and then entered a private home for care. On the first day of June 1973 she entered the Frankfort Community Care Home where she received good care and made many friends. She was a quiet person with a strong personality, and she lived by her own convictions--one day at a time. She seldom mentioned her physical problems. The weekly Bible Study class provided by the care home was a source of Encouragement and inspiration to her. She also attended some of the Sunday afternoon gospel services held in the care home chapel by churches and individuals of the community. She will be greatly missed by her family and by her many friends. She is survived by a sister, Gladys Arlene Wang, and husband, Andrew of Seattle, Washington; a brother Donald J. Harper, and wife, Aletha of Frankfort, Kansas; two nieces, Sumi Fekel of Seattle Washington; Karen Zidek and husband David of Manhattan, Kansas; five nephews, James Harper and wife, Lois Jean, of Vermillion, Kansas; William Harper of Aurora, Colorado; Timothy and John Harper of Vermillion, Kansas; Wayne Harper and wife Bonnie, of Frankfort, Kansas. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 7, 1997, at Padden Funeral Chapel Frankfort, Kansas, with Wayne Harper officiating. Organist Thelma Bishop accompanied soloist Ray Bishop who sang "One Day At A Time" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were John P.Harper, James Harper, John Harper, Tim Harper, Ralph Disney and David Zidek. Interment was at the Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
