Agnes Raue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Raue, was born in Germany on Nov 21, 1879. She came to the Salem area with her parents when she was three months old and lived her entire life here until just a few years ago when she went to Sioux Falls to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lucille) Herting. She was united in marriage to Mr. John Sabers at New Vienna, Iowa on Jan 21, 1903. The couple farmed here and later he operated garages in Salem city. Mr. Sabers died in 1958. Mrs. Sabers was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem. Mrs. Sabers is survived by six daughters, Irene Sabers, Mrs. Angela Thompson, Mrs. Jim (Lucille) Herting, and Mrs. Don (Josephine) Coome, all of Sioux Falls, SD; Mrs. George (Laverne) Carey of Mitchell, SD; and Mrs. Florence Carpenter of Huron, SD; two sons, Ralph Sabers of Gallup, New Mexico, and Robert Sabers of Salem, SD; one sister, Lena Raue of Salem, SD; 35 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two sons, Ervin and Emil, and one brother.
