Agatha was born April 12, 1922, on the family farm four miles south of Huntley, in rural Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of eight children born to Herman C. and Louise May (Harris) Kaup. Read More	Agatha May Walker, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska. Agatha was born April 12, 1922, on the family farm four miles south of Huntley, in rural Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of eight children born to Herman C. and Louise May (Harris) Kaup. Agatha attended Salem School District through the 8th grade and graduated, valedictorian, from Huntley High School with the class of 1939. After high school, Agatha completed Business College in Hastings, Nebraska. Agatha left Harlan County for only nine months of her life to work in Omaha, where she worked at Northern Natural Gas. She returned to work in various jobs in Harlan County, including the Rationing Office during World War II. It was at this time she was introduced to Floyd Walker. They went on many double dates with close friends. On June 20, 1946, they were united in marriage in Alma. To this union, four children were born: Larry, LeRoy, Nancy and Janelle The couple started their life together on a farm 4 ½ miles south of Alma, moving to several houses in Harlan County before purchasing their current home just outside of Alma, where Agatha resided until her death. Agatha's primary concern throughout her life was raising her children, her pride and joy, and being a devoted wife to Floyd. She was a hard working woman who was always willing to help Floyd by feeding hired hands, driving truck, helping with harvest and taking care of the cattle. She supplemented the family income with jobs outside the home. In addition, she found time to be involved in community and charitable activities for the hospital auxiliary, and the Alma Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 65 years. She was especially proud to take over ownership of the Kaup family farm which had been in her family for over 100 years. Besides her parents and husband, Floyd, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Meredith Kaup and his wife, Edith, Floyd Kaup and his wife, Helen, William August (in infancy), and Burnell Kaup and his wife, Lois; two sisters: Elsie Walden and her husband, Harvey, and Gladys Meisenbach and her husband, Floyd; four brothers-in-law: Bob Walker, Don Walker, Fred Inman and Darryl Christensen; sister-in-law, Margaret Hooper; and great-granddaughter, Ava Schroder. Agatha is survived by her children: Larry Walker and his wife, Carol of Kimball, Nebraska, LeRoy Walker and his wife, Margo of Holdrege, Nebraska, Nancy Schroder and her husband, Dr. Richard Schroder of Pierce, Nebraska, and Janelle Mantz and her husband, Dr. Don Mantz of Omaha, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Cray and husband, Vern of Albany, Oregon; four sisters-in-law: Ruth Inman of Carrolton, Texas, June Christensen of Topeka, Kansas, Jean Christensen and her husband, Don of Alma and LaDonna Walker of Kearney, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Interment was in the Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebraska.
