Agnes Spater Fobes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spater, was born near Auburn, Ia., September 25, 1875, and died in her sleep Saturday night, November 3, 1956, at the age of 81 years and one month. In her early years, she attended the Carroll Normal College and then taught school in the Auburn vicinity for a number of years. At an early age, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Auburn. On November 15, 1899, she was married to Dr. Henry Fobes of Auburn and Auburn was always her home. Preceding her in death were her husband, in April, 1939, and one sister, Martha (Mrs. Arthur Borland), of Omaha, Neb., who died in 1954. She is survived by six sisters: Hannah (Mrs. C.F. Swarm), Ruth (Mrs. William Poyser), Emma (Mrs. J.S. Shamel) and Miss Laura Spater, all of Kansas City, Mo.; Mary (Mrs. F.I. Osburn) and Blanche (Mrs. E.L. Dahlquist), both of Auburn; two brothers, William Spater of Great Falls, Mont., and Gilbert Spater of Misoula, MT.
