PLAINVIEW, Neb. -- Funeral services for George Dufek Sr., 84, who died last Monday in a Norfolk hospital, were conducted Thursday afternoon at the First Congressional Church here by the Rev. Clarence W. Hanscom. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Active pall bearers were Kenneth Ober, Ronnie, Junior and Keith Bessmer, William Gilster and Raymond Hayes. George Dufek was born May 20, 1873, in Omaha to Mr. and Mrs. James Dufek and died November 11 at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 21 days. He was baptized in infancy and attended grade schools in Dodge County. He was married in 1901 to Agnes Krofta of North bend. They were the parents of seven children. One daughter, Anna died in infancy and Mrs. Dufek died June 17, 1933. On July 2, 1935, he was married to Etta Falconer of Plainview. Mr. Dufek was engaged in farming north of Breslau until his retirement in 1935. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Plainview and served on its board of trustees. He served two years on the city council. He was a member of ZCBJ Lodge of Verdigre, where he received his 50-year, just three years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a brother, James, and a sister as well as the infant daughter, Anna. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Etta, four daughters including Barbara Bessmer, Agnes Bessmer, and Lillian Hayes of Plainview and Rose Gilster of North Platte, two sons, Ed and George of Neligh, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, George, of Creighton and a host of friends. ...Norfolk Daily News November 18, 1957 ...Provided by; Gene Hutson (37670162) • [email protected]utLook.com
