Description	:	Agnes Marie Podhajsky, 96, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Hospice Compassus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home where there will be a Vigil Service at 8 PM followed by a Rosary. Agnes was born on March 26, 1917, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Husak) Dvorak. She attended country school. On September 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Albert H. Podhajsky at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in rural Toledo. She helped Albert on the farm where she had her own hatchery business and also sold strawberries. She volunteered at the annual duck supper at the Dupunda Hall. Agnes worked at Gamble's Hardware Store in Tama, the Tama Hatchery and in the bakery at the United Grocery store in Toledo. Recently, she volunteered at the Community Clothes Closet in Tama. Agnes was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and in 1968, she became a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She was active as a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD classes, served as a money counter, volunteered at Parish festivals and provided food for various functions. Her hobbies included quilting, playing cards, traveling and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball & football games. She was known for her wonderful kolaches. Agnes was quick with numbers and loved great conversation. Survivors include four children, Dorothy Chrudimsky of Austin, TX, Lee (Dea) Podhajsky of Apache Junction, AZ, Ron (Lisa) Podhajsky of Boulder, CO, and Jean (Michael) Woodson of Maple Grove, MN; six grandchildren, Connie (Kerry) Lowis, David (Solin) Chrudimsky, Kathy (Darrell) Harger, Cheryl Podhajsky, Rachel Negen and Heather (Goeff) Erwin; eleven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Milo (Irene) Dvorak of Traer, Bernard (Mary) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids and Mary Ann (Jim) Mathews of Pueblo, CO; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Dvorak of Cedar Rapids. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Albert on April 1, 1966; one son, Capt. Norbert Podhajsky in November of 1970; one brother, Leo Dvorak; and a son-in-law, Wilbur Chrudimsky
