Description	:	Albert De Jong, 78, died Feb. 23 at Pella Community Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 2, 1903 to Antone and Gertie De Geus DeJong on their farm near Leighton. He attended the Centennial rural school, and later was a trucker and construction worker for most of his working years. He was in the U.S. Army from Aug. 11, 1942 to March 10, 1943. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Leighton, and in 1941 transferred his membership to First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. He was a member of the VanVeen-Van Hemert Post No. 89 in Pella. Services were held Feb. 25 at the chapel of Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home. Burial was in Black Oak Township Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the VanVeen-Van Hemert Post No. 89. Memorials maybe given to the Christian Opportunity Center. (From the Pella Chronicle March 4, 1981)
