Description	:	Albert B. Washburn was born Oct. 28, 1869 In Wlnneshiek County, Iowa, and died Sept. 26, 1942 at his farm home at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 29 days. He was a son of John P. and Ellen Divine Washburn, and one of six children. His father and mother and two sisters preceded him in death. One sister and two brothers remain. After a thorough primary education he entered Western College at Toledo, Tama County, Iowa; from there to Cedar Falls and later completed his education In Upper Iowa University at Fayette. He was a son of John P. and Ellen Divine Washburn, and one of six children. His father and mother and two sisters preceded him in death. One sister and two brothers remain. He was married Feb. 26, 1893 to Mary V. Wearin, daughter of Otha and Martha Wortman Wearin. To this union flve children were born, four sons and one daughter. Lawrence died In young manhood; Valeria and Velerius and John died In infancy. He is survived by his wife and one son, Henry W, Washburn, of Hastings; two grandchildren, Mary Alice and Albert Theodore Washburn; and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry W. Washburn. He was reared in a Christian home and at the age of 13 joined the Methodist church in Trayer in which as a boy he was a willing and faithful worker. He transferred his membership to the Emerson Methodist church In 1902, which membership he constantly maintained until his death. He was for some time president of the board of trustees of this church and was the chairman of the building committee during the erection of the present brick structure that houses the congregation of the Emerson Methodist church. He has done much for the betterment of all the churches in and around his own community and will long be remembered for his generosity and help In planning, building and maintenance of the Emerson Methodist church. He served two terms in the Iowa Legislature as representative from Mills county In 1904 and 1906, after which he came back to the farm where he spent the remainder of his life.
