He came to Nebraska in 1878, was married to Miss Virginia Hafer in 1882. He bought a farm which he converted from a barren prairie to a beautiful home. Three children born to them, two of them died when they were one and two years of age. One son Percy Hafer Carney survives him. Mr Carney was an early settler and saw many ups and downs of the pioneer life and was one to help build up the country and make it the grand place that it is today. Funeral services were held at the M E church, Rev Calvert had charge. Interment in Sutton cemetery.
