Read More	The following article was published in a Lake Andes, Charles Mix County, South Dakota newspaper: Petty Families Afflicted by Sudden Deaths Fate deals harshly and persistently with all of us at times but it seems to be laying an especially heavy hand upon the Petty families. A. C. Petty of Castana, Iowa, who came two weeks ago to attend the funeral of his brother, J. W. Petty, was stricken with paralysis and died Jan. 28th [1926]. He was staying at the home of his niece, Mrs. Geo. Wuest. His sons Ray of Arlington, S.D., and Melvin of Castana, also his daughter, Mrs. Burl Seaton, were here during his illness and accompanied the remains to Castana, where the funeral service was held just a week after the burial of his brother, J. W. Petty of Lake Andes. The wife of Mr. A. C. Petty was here visiting a year ago last June and died at that time, preceding her husband just eighteen months. Her illness, diabetes, was of a more lingering nature and her passing was not unexpected. Mr. Petty was 72 years old and in apparently good health until he received word of his brother's death, the shock of which brought on his first stroke.
