Description	:	Former Castana Resident Buried Funeral services for Ray Petty, 53-year-old former Castana resident who passed away Wednesday of last week at his home in Arlington, S.D., were held Sunday afternoon at Arlington. Interment was in the Castana cemetery Monday, following services Monday afternoon in the home of Claude Petty at Castana. Rev. Slocum of Arlington officiated. Mr. Petty, son of A.C. and Margret Frances Petty, was born near Blair, Neb., May 11, 1885. His early years were spent on a farm near Glenwood, Ia. Later the family moved to Monona County and resided near Castana, where Ray grew to manhood. At 19 years of age he went to work on his own resources and took care of himself. When he was 21 he went to Beach, N.D., and filed on a claim. He was married to Miss Margret Oldis of Castana February 22, 1908. They remained on their claim 14 years, later moving to Badger, S.D., where Mr. Petty engaged in the barber trade for two and one half years. They made their home in Arlington since that time. Mr. Petty was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic lodge. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Murrell, one granddaughter, Betty Rae Murrell of Phoenix, Ariz., and 10 brothers and sisters, Clyde, Melvin and Claude of Castana, Charles of Eureka, Cal., Fred of Minneapolis, Sam of Willets, Cal., Walter of Barstow, Cal., Mrs. Diantha Seaton and Mrs. Mabel Martin of Castana and Mrs. Sarah Skaw of Boise, Idaho.
