Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Runnells Christian Church in Runnells with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. The son of Albert Franklin and Charlotte Wilhelmina Petermeier Polhamus, he was born April 30, 1909, near Melbourne. He graduated from Melbourne High School in 1927. On June 12, 1942 he married Ruth E. Ghent in Bethany, MO. They farmed near Laurel and Baxter before moving to a farm in Runnells in 1950, where they farmed until retiring in 1979. They stayed on the farm until 1983, when they moved to Runnells. He moved to Manson in January 1997 and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center earlier this month. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dwayne Wallace of Manson, three grandchildren, two great grandsons; three sisters, Avis Kreager of Newton, Victoria Balmer of Kellogg, and Minnie Hawk of Victorville, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, three brothers and two sisters.
