Description	:	Albert G. Hoins, 89, Waverly, Iowa, died Thursday evening at the Shell Rock Health Care Center where he had been a resident since November 11. Born June 15, 1906, at Kiowa, he was the son of Herman C. and Ida (Meier) Hoins. He attended country school near his home and parochial school in Davenport. Hoins, 89, Waverly, Iowa, died Thursday evening at the Shell Rock Health Care Center where he had been a resident since November 11. Born June 15, 1906, at Kiowa, he was the son of Herman C. and Ida (Meier) Hoins. He attended country school near his home and parochial school in Davenport. September 28, 1927, he was united in marriage to Frieda Ahrens, in Davenport. They lived on a farm until 1949, when they moved to Ruskin. He operated a trucking business and was employed by the Ruskin elevator. In 1955, they moved to Waverly, where he worked at a gasoline station until 1961. He was a custodian at the Shell Rock School and head custodian at the Bremer County Courthouse. He retried as custodian of the Bremer County Law Center in November, 1986. On July 20, 1992, Frieda died and Albert remained in Waverly until he moved to the health care center. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Waverly, he served several terms on the church council. While in Ruskin, he served on the city council, the Ruskin School Board and as a volunteer fireman. He is survived by his nine children and their spouses: Victor, Waverly; Wendell, Bellevue; Everett, Springale, Ark.; Lavern, Hubert and Jerome, Waverly; Mrs. Rudy Schaff, Jr. (Beverly), Crookston; Mrs. Draper Spratt (Leola), Harpers Ferry, and Mrs. Rex Creekmore (Nancy), Leeds, Ala.; one brother, Clarence Hoins, Glen Dale, Ariz.; 47 grandchildren and 79 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, July 20, 1992; one son, LeRoy Hoins, 1942; one brother, Elmer Hoins and by three great-grandchildren. Services were Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Waverly, with Pastor Gary Arp officiating. Burial was in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.
