Albert Kort was born at Groslueben, near Wilsnach, Brandenburg, Germany, on April 14, 1855. He was baptized and confirmed at the place of his birth. He came to America with his parents when he was sixteen years of age, and the family settled at Crete, Nebraska. In 1870 the family moved to a farm three miles north of Blue Hill. In 1877 the deceased homesteaded one mile east of Blue Hill. At the present time a son, Emil, resides on the farm. In 1883 he was married to Miss Bertha Yeager and eight children were born to this union. They continued to farm until 1932 when Mr. & Mrs. Kort retired and moved to Blue Hill. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1933. After a long illness, the deceased passed away from this life on February 27, 1942, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 14 days. Two children, Alma at the age of three, and Mrs. William Dahms who died in 1925, preceded the father in death. Those who survive are the wife: two sons, Mark and Emil of Blue Hill; four daughters, Mrs. Olga Koepke of Blue Hill, Mrs. William Koepke of Ayr, Mrs. Carl Koepke of Blue Hill, and Mrs. H.O. Auten of Ayr. One brother, Christ Kort of Blue Hill, also survives besides thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
