A Host of friends and neighbors paid their last respects at funeral services Monday afternoon at 1:30 at Croxford and Son's Mortuary. A Host of friends and neighbors paid their last respects at funeral services Monday afternoon at 1:30 at Croxford and Son's Mortuary. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens (aka Manchester Cemetery). Pallbearers were friends of long standing: Fred Nicholson, Dwight Fleschenhar, C.S. Moore, Harry Wiegand, Angus Ferguson and Sam McGuire (all deceased). Les married the former Elsie Standley on November 3, 1932, and except for a few years at Helena where he worked for the Green Meadow Farm, they lived here and reared their family. Although they farmed since returning here, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholls also were in business in Cascade, purchasing the Cascade Drug Store from the late J.M. Asal. After operating it a few years they have since had the property leased out. They also began and operate the Nicholls trailer court here. Les was also a member of the Community Methodist Church of Cascade, and served for many years on the Board of Trustees of the Travis school. Survivors left to mourn his untimely passing are the widow, Elsie (decased 1996); sons Gerald (deceased 1997) and a son living in 2016, of Cascade; daughters Mrs. Dwaine (Joyce) Pettapiece (deceased 2008) of Cascade and a daughter living in 2016, of Great Falls; his father Mr. A.L. Nicholls, Sr. (deceased 1976) of Ulm; brothers Arlo (deceased 2010) and Fred (deceased 2011) of Great Falls and James (deceased 1973) of Ulm; and eight grandchildren. To them the community joins the Courier in extending most sincere and heartfelt sympathy.
