Description	:	Alberta L. Vanderbeek, 91, of Adams died in a Lincoln hospital on Monday morning, June 29, 2015. She was born on November 21, 1923 at rural Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1941. She married Garrett Vanderbeek on March 9, 1944 at rural Sterling and they lived and farmed in the Adams area until moving into Adams in 1988. She was born on November 21, 1923 at rural Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1941. She married Garrett Vanderbeek on March 9, 1944 at rural Sterling and they lived and farmed in the Adams area until moving into Adams in 1988. She was a member of the Pella Reformed Church of rural Adams and the church women's guild. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, being a “Cubs” fan and baking desserts. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Coorts and husband Larry of Branson, MO and Patricia Kerrey of Palm Desert, CA; one son, Daniel Vanderbeek and wife Jan of Adams; four grandchildren, Jason Coorts and wife Nikki, Carla Coorts, Jaycie Vanderbeek and Jenna Vanderbeek; three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Audrey and Asher Coorts; one sister-in-law, Mardell Hestermann; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gade and Bessie (Rathe) Hestermann; her husband Garrett, who died October 3, 2004; one son, Mark; one brother, Paul Hestermann. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Pella Reformed Church of rural Adams with Pastor Vic Folkert officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to Pella Reformed Church with Paul Nyland in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Thursday. Fox Funeral Home of Adams is in charge of the arrangements.
