He was born on August 19, 1964 in Beatrice, graduated from Adams High School in 1982 and received a degree in agriculture from UNL in 1985. He married Jan Gottula on July 26, 1985 at the Pella Reformed Church in rural Adams. He took great pride in operating the family farm north of Adams. Vanderbeek, 52, of Adams died on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1964 in Beatrice, graduated from Adams High School in 1982 and received a degree in agriculture from UNL in 1985. He married Jan Gottula on July 26, 1985 at the Pella Reformed Church in rural Adams. He took great pride in operating the family farm north of Adams. He was a member of the Pella Reformed Church of rural Adams. He enjoyed water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, boating and spending time with his family, friends and pets. Survivors include two daughters, Jaycie Vanderbeek and significant other, Adam Sekora of Lincoln and Jenna Lempka and husband Dylan of Adams; two sisters, Sandra Coorts and husband Larry of Branson, MO and Patricia Kerrey and her friend Cynthia Stewart of Palm Desert, CA; one niece, Carla Coorts of Nixa, MO; one nephew, Jason Coorts and wife Nikki and their family of Nixa, MO; one aunt and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Alberta Rathe Vanderbeek; his wife, Jan, who died on September 19, 2016; one brother, Mark Vanderbeek; parents-in-law, Melvin and Hilda (Alms) Gottula; one brother-in-law, Stuart Gottula. Private graveside services will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Adams. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing. A guestbook for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family meeting and greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. that evening.
