Mrs. Vratny and her husband had been living in Sacramento, Cal. for about two years. Married in 1938 She had lived in the vicinity of Monticello about 20 years before she obtained a clerical position in Des Moines where she was employed about 15 years. She married Robert Vratny, January 14, 1938 and moved soon afterward to California. She was born January 14, 1902 in Sherman township, Calhoun county, being the youngest of six children. She was baptized Feb. 14, 1903 in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Pomeroy and when two years old came with her family to Delaware county. She was confirmed in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church by Rev. W.H.L Schuetz. Business College She attended a business college at Cedar Rapids before obtaining employment in Des Moines. Surviving Mrs. Vratny besides her husband and elderly mother are three sisters, Mrs. R.H. Moenk of Monticello, Mrs. Walter First of Hopkinton, and Mrs. Elbert First of Monticello, and two brothers, William, who lives on the Reuter homestead, and Carl of Sumner.
