REUTER AT ST.JOHN'S Services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 for Anna Margareta Reuter, 86, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs.E.B.First in Monticello on Thursday, Dec. 4. Services were held at the St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. R.P.Young officiating. Burial was at St.Johns cemetery. Born March 6, 1866, in Rispel, Ostfriesland, Germany, she was one of eight children of Wilke and Margarete Edzards Behrends. She came to the United States at the age of 15 years in 1881. She was united in marriage to Fred Reuter Nov. 25, 1886 at the St. John's Lutheran church by the Rev. F. Von Strobe, then pastor of the church. They became the parents of six children, five of whom are living. A daughter, Albertine Vrainey, passed away in 1940. Mr. Reuter also preceded her in death. Mr. and Mrs. Reuter made their home on a farm near Monticello following their marriage, then for a while lived near Pomeroy, later they moved to a farm north of Monticello, retiring to Monticello 31 years ago. Surviving children include two sons and three daughters: William, of Monticello; Carl, of Sumner; Anna (Mrs. Henry Monk), Margaret (Mrs. Walter First) and Marie (Mrs. Elbert First) all of Monticello. She is also survived by four brothers, John Henry, Ben, William and Gerhard Behrends, and 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers included, Wilke Behrends, Will Behrends, Ed Behrends, Ben Thuman, Will Decker and John Reuter.
