Mr Rund died Wednesday evening, Dec 23 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama where he had been residing for the past week, after suffering from failing health for several months with a heart condition. Mr Rund died Wednesday evening, Dec 23 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama where he had been residing for the past week, after suffering from failing health for several months with a heart condition. Celebrating the funeral Mass in the absence of Father Ernest Engler, was Sister Margaret Kruse. Organist was Helen Berrey. Casket bearers were Frank Kacer, John Kopecky, Wayne Porter, William W Waite, Leonard H Prusha and Harold M McClure. Born September 28, 1914 near Toledo, he was the son of Fred and Fannie (Kadrmas) Rund. He received his education in the Dupanda School, rural Toledo, and grew to manhood there. He enlisted in the US Army during World War II, and served in the European Theater. After his discharge, he farmed for two years, from 1946 to 1948, then began employment with Lewers Ford as a mechanic. He was employed in that capacity until retiring from Weidners Ford in 1975 because of his health. He was a member of St Patrick Cahtolic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the KD Lodge of Vining. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers. Surviving are his nephew, Steven Rund, a cousin, Mrs Ernest (Blanche) Mannel of Traer and several more distant relatives. [Toledo Chronicle December 1987] Contributor: jpaff
