The Rev. Stanley officiated. Rev. and Mrs. Peterson sang two selections, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Only Shadows." Mrs. Norman D. Erickson played organ selections and accompanied the vocal music. Pallbearers were: Ruby Hubner, Cliff Lander, Gleston Shelton, Howard Long, Fred Fry, Clyde Naylor. Alby Lester Thompson, son of Archie and Ida Thompson, was born August 10, 1894, on a farm in Webster County, and died Sunday, May 16, 1954, at his home in Stratford at the age of 59 years, 9 months, and 6 days. While Mr. Thompson had been in failing health for two years, his death was very sudden due to a heart attack. Mr. Thompson was reared and educated in Webster and Hamilton Counties. He was united in marriage June 1, 1918, to Miss Marie Carpenter. In July 1918 he entered the service and served overseas. After his return in 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Thompson farmed near Stratford until seven years ago when they moved into Stratford where he engaged in carpentry trade as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter - Berwin of Stratford and Mrs. Garnet (Betty) Silvey of Stratford. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Barbara, Bonnie, Larry, Cheryl and Linda Thompson; one brother and one sister, Lloyd Thompson of Havana, Ill., and Mrs. Albert Carlson of Ogden, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He was a member of the American Legion Post at Stratford. A friendly courteous man, Mr. Thompson had made a large number of friends during his long residence in the Stratford community.
