He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Ord to Wilheim "William" Sr. and Anna (Tomsen) Jorgensen. On April 26, 1946, he married Eva Jane Ream in Minden. She died Sept. 30, 1967. On Sept. 24, 1968, he married Marie Gentert in Roseland. She died Dec. 16, 2013. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Bauer and her husband, Tim, of Minden; son, Terry Jorgensen and his wife, Sharon, of Lexington; five stepdaughters; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 19 stepgrandchildren; 27 stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, William Jorgensen Jr. and his wife, Merribelle; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family moved to a farm south of Minden when Al was 1 year old. He attended Hinterlong District 14 county school in Cosmo Township in Kearney County. He left school to work for his uncle, Nels Tomsen, on his farm east of Minden for four years. Al joined the U.S. Army on July 2, 1942. He served in the 342 Quartermasters. His basic training was in Arkansas. He was stationed in Virginia, Maryland and Angel Island in California. He was sent to the Panama Canal and then later to Pearl Harbor after D-Day, then to Japan. He was discharged after 3½ years of service. To his union with Eva Jane two children were born, Linda Kay and Terrance Lee. During his lifetime, he farmed for 20 years, bought cattle, sold Wilson seed corn and worked as a scale man for 11 years at the Holstein elevator before retiring. His hobbies were making wooden wagons and hayracks along with Clydesdale horses and mirrors with harnesses around them. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with his friends and family. He was a member of the Eagles 592 in Hastings for 40 years and was a lifetime member of the Heartwell VFW. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nels; sisters, Caroline and Helen; stepson, Gene Gentert; stepgrandson, Charlie Gentert; and stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Konen.
