Description	:	Alexander Sr., "labourer" in 1841 Scottish Census, is believed to have been born in Northern Ireland in 1801. On Canada Census 1851 for West Brant Co., Burford Twn., ON, the surname is spelled "Dunkin". I have seen no verified information as to who his parents were. He and wife Margaret Hood Duncan (possibly Mary Margaret) lived at 183 Bogside, on the River Foyle. The family lived at 13 Bell St, outside the ancient city walls, now a gentrified shopping district. Alexander Jr. 1823 arrived in Canada at a later date after serving in the British Army, being wounded in the Crimean Conflict. 1842 - Alexander and Margaret Hood Duncan arrived in Canada from Scotland with seven children. They settled first on the plains near Brantford, ON in a place known as "The Queen's Bush". 1853 - They were the first settlers of an area they named "Bluevale" after "Bluevale Street" in Glasgow, Scotland. 1854 - Purchased Con.1, Lot 30. 1857 - Subdivided it into lots for sale. #24 and #25 Duncan Street and lots #1, #2, and #3, 74 Clyde Street.
