He was an uncle of Mrs Wallace Kay of Jackson] ------- [Obituary] Alexander Lighton Harding was born in the State of New York, March 25th, 1812, and died at his home near Pine Grove, Amador Co., Feb 13th, 1888, aged 65 years, 10 months and 18 days. When but six months of age he removed with his parents to Ohio where he lived until he started to this coast. On the 12th day of Nov 1843 he was united in marriage with Miss Carmelia T Hubble, who for more than 45 years shared life's joys and trials with him, and still lives to mourn his departure. At the age of 18 he professed religion and united with the Baptist church, of which he remained a faithful and consistent member until a few months before his death, when he united with the M. E. church. He arrived in California in Feb 1850, and has resided most of the time since in this county. He leaves a wife, tow sons, one daughter and a large circle of relatives and friends, but they mourn not as those who have no hope. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the Pine Grove church on the 14th and his remains were followed by a large number of friends and acquaintances to their last resting pace in the Pine Grover Cemetery, where the impressive burial services of the IOOF and the ME church were conducted, and all that was mortal pf A L Harding was laid to rest to await the resurrection day.
