Cherry, Linn county treasurer twenty-odd years ago, died Saturday morning in a Cedar Rapids hospital, following a brief illness. He served in the old count house in Marion two terms - from 1919 to 1922 - while the new court house was being built in Cedar Rapids. Since then he has been largely interested in lodge work in connection with the Iowa Odd Fellows. He is a past grand master of the state, and for some time prior to his death was employed as a field representative for the order. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias in Cedar Rapids. He was born in Walker June 19, 1880. His wife died in 1938. Surviving is his son William R. and three daughters, Mrs. Harold Kelme, Mrs. Harry Hall and Mrs. Sam Miller all of Cedar Rapids. Also his mother, Mrs. Suzanna Cherry, of Walker; two brothers, Elmer of Marion, and Ed of Cedar Rapids, and one sister, Mrs. Ida Walton, of Oelwein. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. T. C. Collister, assisted by the Maine I. O. O. F. lodge, and burial was in Cedar Memorial Park.
