Read More	Alfred F. Schoen Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in the American Lutheran Church in Adams, Nebraska Alfred F. Schoen, 90 years of age, of Adams, Nebraska passed away at Bryan/LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2002. He was born on May 11, 1911 near Sterling, Nebraska and lived in the Sterling and Adams area most of his life. He served his country by serving in the United States Army from 1940-1945 and received a Purple Heart. He married Geneva G. Fracier on January 5, 1945 in Beatrice. He lived and farmed on a farm 4 miles south of Adams until moving into Adams in 1974. He also had been employed at Fritz Implement and the Farmers Coop Oil, both in Adams. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Adams, helped build the church, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, trapping, coon hunting and raising coon dogs, farming, yard work and his flowers. Survivors include his wife Geneva; daughter Judy Schaffer and her special friend Jerry Janeke of Lincoln, NE.; 2 sons, Ed Schoen and his wife Pam of Adams, and Eldon Schoen and his special friend Betty Fix of Roca, NE.; grandchildren, Tammy Rainey and her husband Daren, Mike Schoen and his wife Traci, Ryan Schoen, Jamie Schoen, Tabitha Fix, and Casey Fix and his wife Tenile; great grandchildren, Jessica Hruza, Danielle Rainey, Bowen Schoen and Shelby Schoen; brother Frank Schoen of Adams; sisters Leah Schoen of Adams, and Bertha Rowe of Humboldt; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gretje (Furst) Schoen, and 5 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in the American Lutheran Church in Adams with Reverend Helmut Yurk officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Adams, NE. Military graveside services will be provided by Fredrick-Steidley Post #221, American Legion and Burrows-DeBoer Chapter #10042, V.F.W, both of Adams. The body will lie in state 3:00-9:00 Monday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and 11:00-9:00 Tuesday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams and at the church one hour preceding the services on Wednesday. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. Wednesday in the fellowship room at the church. A memorial has been established to the Adams Volunteer Fire Department and Quick Response team with Floyd Vanengen and Kent Krause in charge. Messages of condolence can be sent to [email protected] and will be forwarded to the family. Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams, NE. is in charge of the services.
