Realph died yesterday afternoon at 4:15 at a local hospital. He suffered a fracture at the base of his skull, and did not regain consciousness after being taken to the hospital. Don Cowles, a local barber, the driver of the other car, will face charges of manslaughter. County Attorney Fred H. Richards, Jr., said after being notified yesterday afternoon of the death of Realph. Richards questioned Cowles yesterday and was informed that Cowles, driving west on Tenth, did not see the car driven by Realph approaching from the south on Main. Coles was accompanied by Merls Burkholder. Neither suffered injuries of any extent, although both were bruised. Car Forced Over Curb County Attorney Richards said his investigation revealed that the car driven by Cowles struck that driven by Realph just in front of the right rear wheel. The Realph car was forced over the curb and the driver apparently was thrown through the windshield, he stated. A call was sent to police and Offers Dorselt and Coomes responed. They arrested Cowles. Ralph was taken in the Fred Bader funeral Home ambulance to the hospital. Everything possible was done for him, but little hope was held for his recovery from the time he arrived there. Cowles, in his statements to officers, admitted that he had been drinking, it was said. He is reported to have told the county attorney he had a drink earlier in the evening. Realph was a partner in the garage which is located on Main Street between Sixth and Military, in the same building with the Union Bus depot. Here Six Years For the past six years he has made his residence in Fremont. He was born August 17, 1900, in Telbasta, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Realph. He was unmarried. While residing in Scribner he was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church in Scribner. He received his education in schools at Crowell and Scribner. He followed the trade of mechanic for a number of years. A year ago he became a partner in the garage business which he operated at the time of his death. Surviving are his parents, who reside in Fremont; a sister, Mrs. Con B. Smith, of Albion; and two brothers, Herbert and Vern, of Fremont. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Salem Lutheran church. Rev. Francis Pryor will officiate. Note: Obituary was received from Jeanie Thieman in Dec., 2011.
