Mr.Eagle was born May 20, 1899 at Doe Hill, a son of the late Samuel Cook Eagle and Martha Jane Karicofe Eagle. Read More	Highland Recorder January 27, 1966 Alfred Kemper Eagle, 66, prominent retired Harrisonburg educator and churchman, who far many years was active in civic affairs, died unexpectedly in his sleep early Saturday morning at his home, January 22. Mr.Eagle was born May 20, 1899 at Doe Hill, a son of the late Samuel Cook Eagle and Martha Jane Karicofe Eagle. He received his early education in the Highland County schools and his B.S. degree from the University; of Virginia. He earned his Masters degree at Columbia University and did post-graduate wort at the University of Chicago. He taught for a number of years in Virginia schools and was superintendent of the Radford City Schools for two years. Mr. Eagle went to Harrisonburg in 1939 as a high school curriculum counselor of the State Board of Education and supervised high schools in 19 counties and seven cities in Virginia He was a member of a number of Honorary professional societies, including Pappa Delta Pi. In ' 1945 he became professor of guidance- and director of student guidance and personnel at Madison College, a position which he held until his retirement in 1957. He was an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal, Church and had served as vestryman, lay reader and choir member. He had been an active Rotarian since 1926. On December 19, 1936 he married Miss. Mamie Lee Engart who survives. He also leave two sons, Dr. John Russel Eagle of Charlottesville and Kemper Engart Eagle of Arlington; two sisters, Mrs. R.S. Cecil, Dublin and Mrs. L.T. Pope, Richmond; and two brothers, J.R. Eagle and J.H. Eagle, both of Manassas. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 25 from Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Francis V. Rhein. Graveside services were held at the Doe Hill Cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
