Their first child, Nancy Susan was named after Alfred's mother, Nancy Woods Capehart King, and after Nancy's mother, Susan Bradford Truss. Their second son, Thomas Wiley King, was named after Alfred’s father, Thomas King II and Nancy’s father, Wiley Dewitt Truss. Also on the wagon train was Alfred's older brother, Ruben King who had married Margarett J. Riggs daughter of George and Margaret Riggs in St. Claire Co., AL in 1845. Alfred had two single brothers that had come to Johnson Co. in the new state of AR in 1844. Thomas King III, b. 1824, m. Hannah Caroline Patrick in 1845 in Johnson Co., and died at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek and John James King b. 1826, m. Margaret Paine . Alfred and Nancy made their home in the area of Ludwig called Clear Creek where they lived the rest of their lives. Children with his 1st wife Nancy J. Children with 2nd wife Martha Francis Blackburn: Richard Monroe King Gus Ephriam King Martha Blackburn had three children by her first husband, Thomas Lee Newton: Hester, Julius C., and William Thomas Newton. William Thomas Newton King was almost 10 when Martha married Alfred King and he later became known as William Newton King.
