Read More	Well-known Overbrook Man Is Victim of A Stroke: Funeral Held Tuesday The community mourns the loss of one of its most beloved citizens in the death of Alfred M Hart, who passed away suddenly at his home last Saturday mornig at the age of 66. His untimely passing came when he returned from a short walk, a stroke taking him from our midst shortly after he had reached his home. --------------------------------- Alfred McCrea Hart was born April 4, 1871 at Clarksburg, Pennsylvania and died November 13, 1937 at his home in Overbrook, Kansas. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Hart, descendants of an early American family. He grew to young manhood in Pennsylvania. After finishing school at Elders Ridge Academy he worked in his father's mercantile business. In 1893 he came to Quenemo, Kansas where he was employed at the Marshall and Hart Store. The following year he came to Overbrook where he clerked for his uncle, G M Hart. In 1898 he became a partner in the firm of G M Hart and Co continuing in business for 40 years until his death. Alfred Hart was married September 27, 1899 to Miss Nellie Kinney, daughter of John Kinney, a pioneer of Ridgeway. To this union were born three children--a son, Thomas George, dying in infancy, and two daughters, Acsa Margaret and Laura Zurilda. He was a lifelong adherent to the church. In his youth, he became a member of the United Presbyterian church. Later, in Overbrook, as a member of the Congregational church, he was interested and active in all of its affairs, serving as a deacon for many years. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge. For twelve years he was a director of the Kansas State Bank, serving as Vice-President and acting President for several years. For years Mr Hart was a formost and influential citizen of Overbrook, taking part in the affairs of the town until March 1934 when he was stricken with paralysis. Surviving him are his wife; daughters, Mrs Acsa Taylor of Benham, Kentucky and Miss Laura of the home; one granddaughter, Carol Hart Taylor; one sister Miss Margaret Hart, Overbrook, and his brothers, John M Hart, Lakeland, Florida, and George P Hart, Overbrook. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev Pritchett and Rev Groh in charge. Burial was in Overbrook cemetery. The Masonic Lodge had charge of the ceremonies at the grave, as he was laid to rest. Pall bearers at the funeal included H Allen, Carl Coffman, Axel Oveson, Roy Hefner, Harley Cox, and Leslie Long.
