Overbrook Cemetery--March 20, 1947 Nellie Augusta Kinney, born November 24, 1876 at Ridgeway, Kans., passed away Tuesday, March 18, 1947 at Junction City, Kans., after a long illness. One of the five daughters of John and Zurilda Sanders Kinney she grew to womanhood in the happy home of these early Kansas settlers, six miles northwest of Overbrook. She was married September 27, 1899 to Alfred M Hart, who preceded her in death November 13, 1937. All her married life was spent in Overbrook where three children were born; a son Thomas dying in infancy and two daughters, Acsa and Laura. For many years she was an active member of the Overbrook Congregational church. She sang faithfully with the choir and also assisted with the work of the Sunday school. Always a participant in worthwhile community endeavor, she enjoyed the lasting friendships made through her church and club work. Seven years ago, following an operation, she went to Junction City to make her home with her daughter. Mrs Hart is survived be here daughters, Mrs L L Lancaster of Junction City, and Mrs J M Taylor of Cynthisana, Ky; five grandchildren, Carol Hart, Nell Doris and James Milburn Taylor and George Alfred and John Hart Lancaster; three sisters, Mrs Emma Atchison, Mrs Lissa Hart and Mrs Laura Reed and a brother Frank Kinney, all of Overbrook; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Overbrook Methodist church with Rev J W Campbell, of Trinity Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev W O Watson of the Overbrook church. A quartet Mrs Joe Coffman, Mrs L E Ray, Russell Baker, and Lloyd Early sand, accompanied by Mrs R O Waddle. Pallbearers were W E Topping, R O Waddle, George Reed, Ed Lee, C C O'Bryhim and Carl Coffman Sr. Interment was in the Overbrook cemetery. Overbrook Citizen-March 27, 1947
