Alice Alfrieda (Schoffelman) Lier was born on a farm west of Lennox, on Apr. 9, 1911, the daughter of George and Reaka (Rippentrop) Schoffelman. At eight years of age she moved, with her parents to a farm east of Lennox where she attended Crowley School. She attained the age of 90 years, ten months and 25 days. Alice Alfrieda (Schoffelman) Lier was born on a farm west of Lennox, on Apr. 9, 1911, the daughter of George and Reaka (Rippentrop) Schoffelman. At eight years of age she moved, with her parents to a farm east of Lennox where she attended Crowley School. On Nov. 20, 1929 she was united in marriage to Alvin Lier at LaValley Parsonage, east of Lennox. Two children, Gene and Rosella, were born to this union. Following their marriage they farmed northeast of Lennox. In 1960 they discontinued farming and moved to Sioux Falls and then to Lennox where they had since lived. She became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Oct. 1, 1999. Her death ended a marriage of over 72 years. She was preceded in death by her father in 1947, her mother in 1984, her son, Gene Russell Lier, at seven years of age on Jun. 20, 1942 and her sister, Florence Woods on Nov. 20, 2000. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Alvin; her daughter and son-in-law: Rosella and Elroy Oltmanns of Lennox.
