Alvin Stanley Lier was born on a farm southeast of Lennox, on Apr. 5, 1908, the son of Andrew and Rena (Larson) Lier. He attended Gedstad School and grew up there. He attained the age of 94 years, one month and nine days. Alvin Stanley Lier was born on a farm southeast of Lennox, on Apr. 5, 1908, the son of Andrew and Rena (Larson) Lier. He attended Gedstad School and grew up there. On Nov. 20, 1929 he was united in marriage to Alice Schoffelman at LaValley Parsonage east of Lennox. Two children, Gene and Rosella, were born to his union. Following their marriage they farmed northeast of Lennox. In 1960 they discontinued farming and moved to Sioux Falls where he worked for the City of Sioux Falls and Dual Manufacturing. Four years later they moved to Lennox where they had since lived. He became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Oct. 22, 1999. His wife died just over two months ago on Mar. 5, 2002, ending a marriage of over 72 years. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his father in 1935; his mother in 1976; his son, Gene Russell Lier, at seven years of age on Jun. 20, 1942 and his brother, Hilmen Lier, in 1989. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter and son-in-law; Rosella and Elroy Oltmanns of Lennox; his sister, Carlotta White of Waukon, IA.
